The Wehrmann Foundation was founded in February 2021 by Janette Wehrmann, born out of one of the hardest seasons of her life. After the loss of her only daughter, Teagan, in 2017, Janette spent years walking alongside others in pain — mentoring and comforting widows, single mothers, women navigating divorce, and mothers who had lost children of their own. She provided low-cost childcare and preschool support for parents in need and volunteered as a teacher, helping children learn to read, write, and build foundational skills. During that season, she also wrote Teagan's Heart: Experiencing the Fierce Love of the King, a book chronicling her journey through grief toward purpose.

It was through this outreach that Janette met many of the people who would become key partners in building The Wehrmann Foundation's framework. What began as an act of remembrance grew into an organization dedicated to healing, restoration, and dignity for those who have suffered deeply.

Today, the nonprofit carries out its mission through two core programs. Teagan's Heart, launched alongside the Foundation in 2021, provides emergency and safe housing with wraparound services for women and girls healing from sexual exploitation and abuse. Most recently, Michael's Shield — its counterpart program for men — offers the same path towards courage, dignity, and restoration. Together, these programs reflect the Wehrmann Foundation's conviction that no one should have to walk the road to healing alone — and that even from profound loss, a legacy of hope can be built for others.

Teagan's Heart is a program of The Wehrmann Foundation dedicated to providing safe emergency and transitional housing with wraparound support services for women and girls who have survived sexual violation and exploitation. Rooted in the H.E.A.R.T. framework — Hope, Edification, Anchor, Restore, Transform — our mission is to walk alongside survivors as they heal and are restored to wholeness. Teagan's Heart is currently working toward acquiring its first safe housing location in Orange County to expand direct services to the women and girls we serve.
