About

The Joyful Child Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing crimes against children through education that empowers young people to recognize danger, assert boundaries, and seek help. Founded in 2002 in memory of five-year-old Samantha Runnion, the organization develops prevention programs that equip children, families, educators, and youth-serving professionals with practical safety skills. Its signature initiative, the Be Brave–Be Safe Empowerment Program (BRAVE), offers age-appropriate lessons for Pre-K through 5th grade learners that build confidence, critical thinking, and communication. Through partnerships with schools and community organizations, The Joyful Child works to expand access to safety education and help children grow up safer, stronger, and better prepared to protect themselves.
